Happy to run the log stream command with more details if someone tells me how, and post the results. If anyone has any suggestions at all of what to do or where to look for more clues, I'd love some help. Here's one, which I started when the backup was at 43.2Mb (after leaving it overnight to get to that point), and which then took 4 hours to copy 0.2Mb, then finished the 4.11Gb backup in the next 6 hours. I found the 'log stream' command and have captured a few backup logs to demonstrate. I've searched the solutions I've found don't seem to address this particular problem. The problem is that since my computer is almost never near my TM for more than 24 hours, the backups keep getting interrupted and then they get larger and larger. The issue seems to be that the first ~40Mb of data take over 24 hours, even if the remainder of the backup (up to several Gb!) finishes in the hours that follow that. For months now, I've been noticing VERY slow progress on TM backup over wifi or cabled.
